Focus and scope

 The Iberoamerican Journal of Psychology is an academic publication, published every four months, and refereed by national and international peers. The journal’s mission is to publish articles with scientific quality, product of research, and reflections. Articles published should demonstrate scientific, social and disciplinary relevance, should be supported by empirical evidence, and should contribute to the construction of new knowledge and innovation.

The journal is aimed at professionals with training in Psychology or other scientific disciplines, who carry out research that addresses issues and topics of interest to the psychological discipline. Papers submitted to the IJP can be written in Spanish, English, or Portuguese.

 All articles are submitted to at least two reviewers who would carry a double-blind peer review. Reviewers should be researchers specialized in the area of work, and with extensive research and publication experience linked to the manuscript topics. Authors must follow the instructions for citation s and references outlined in the APA standards, sixth version. The final opinion is communicated to the corresponding contact in no more than 90 days after the external peer evaluation process has begun.

 Costs

 Publishing in the Iberoamerican Journal of Psychology has no economic cost. Likewise, access to content is free for both authors and readers.

 Financing

 The journal is supported and sponsored by the Psychology program at the Corporación Universitaria Iberoamericana, Colombia.

 

 

Open access policy

 This journal provides open access to its content, following the Open Access policy of the Corporación Universitaria Iberoamericana and the policy of the ĬbērAM publishing house. This open acces is based on the principle that offering free access to knowledge enables global knowledge exchange.

 The authors who publish in this journal agree with the following terms:

 In essence, both the author and the journal, by placing the article or work in Open Access, comply with the meritorious purpose of leveraging the development of society and therefore, by virtue of their contribution, require due recognition in any instance in the that the work, in whole or in part, be used or exploited, this through an appropriate citation and reference.

  1. After the rights are transferred from the author to the publisher, these become registered as © YEAR, ĬbērAM, the publishing unit of the Corporación Universitaria Iberoamericana.
  2. As stated in the Institutional Knowledge Policy, the publisher begins to act in defense of the rights conferred on it, and especially in regard to the representation and protection of those that are the responsibility of the author.
  3. However, the copyright representation in any case, replaces in creation works, the duly recognition of the author’s rights through the several ways of quoting and referencing. The credit for organizational or institutional documents -that are de facto part of the chore of the Iberoamericana- will be granted to the Corporation as owner of the works, as a result of the chore, as planned in the current legislation.

The Editorial team urges the authors to publish the different components of their work under the same license or similar, regarding rights and obligations (it depends on the type of content and applicability). Publishing under the same license –or a similar- allows the end-user to have minimum access to all the content.

 

Ethical commitments

 The Iberoamerican Journal of Psychology assumes the principles of the Publications Ethics Committee (COPE)  aimed at both editors and reviewers and authors. Based  on this, it defines the following commitments:

 

Commitments and responsibilities that rest in the authors

 

  • The author has the right over time to preserve his name recognized in the citation and referencing of his work, as a form of materializing the moral property that constitutes its authorship. Even his heirs retain this right when the validity of the Copyright expire
  • At any time, the author may request (from the journal and therefore from the publisher): the preservation of his name, in defense of the rights that assist him against the obvious misuse of his work, For purposes other than intended, among others, the withdrawal of the published or in progress work, or the amendment of the acknowledgement based on the third parties participation, with no damage on the processes, procedures or charges that may be caused within publishing of the journal.
  • The authors assure that the work is original, that it does not contain non -referenced parts of other works of their authorship, nor fragments of works already published by
  • other authors. They also guarantee that the data and results presented are accurate and have not been altered.
  • The author guarantees that the exposed results have not been disclosed in another
  • scientific journal.
  • The author agrees to provide the correct indication of the sources and contributions mentioned in the article.
  • The authors guarantee to include on the paper only those people who made a significant contribution to the planning, development and / or writing of the work.
  • The order of authorship has been raised in accordance with the responsibility and involvement in its development.
  • All authors are obliged to declare that there are no conflicts of interest explicitly.
  • They must also indicate any funding from agencies and/or projects from which the research article arises.
  • The authors must notify the existence of any error or inaccuracy regarding the
  • published manuscript. Once this notification is made, the editors of the journal will make the appropriate adjustments.

 

Reviewers' commitments

 Reviewers should only review a manuscript if there are no conflicts of interest.

  • The reviewers committ to carry out a review that is critical, honest, and unbiased; for the form and the content of the manuscript.

 

  • Each assigned manuscript must be considered confidentia Therefore, these texts should not be discussed or disclosed with other people without the express consent of the editors.
  • The reviewers will deliver a report following the evaluation form for Journal articles.
  • They will be able to warn the editors if parts of the work have been published in another publication or are in the editorial process in another Journal.
  • The reviewers agree to evaluate the works in the shortest possible time (15 business days). In case that the reviewers will notify the editors in case the cannot carry out their tasks in the scheduled time, so that the deadlines for delivering the opinion (90 days) follow the journal's policie
  • Reviewers can accurately suggest and indicate specific bibliographic references to be reviewed and included in the text by the authors.

 

Publishers' commitments

 The editors will guarantee the selection of the most qualified reviewers

  • The editorial team of the IJP will select the reviewers that it considers necessary for each work (no less than two) in favor of seeking rigor and objectivity in the evaluations.
  • Editors and members of the editorial team undertake not to disclose the information associated with articles that are in the evaluation process to anyone other than
  • authors, reviewers, and editors.
  • Editors are responsible for compliance with the time limits for reviews and publication of accepted papers (maximum 90 days).
  • The editors agree not to use in their research the content of the articles submitted for publication without the author's explicit consent.
  • The editors' actions will be aligned with the COPE Code of Conduct for Journal Editors, with the international ethical standards of the American Psychological Association (APA)  Http: //www.apa .org / ethics / code / indeaspx and with the Policy  of Ethics, Bioethics and Scientific Integrity (2017) of Minciencias, Colombia.

 

 

 

Journal History

 

The Iberoamerican Journal of Psychology began as a biannual publication (digital and paper) in 2008; and it remained so until the end of 2017. Since its inception, it has been characterized for publishing scientific works with social and disciplinary relevance that are at the forefront of developments within the discipline and the scientific context in general. For 2018, the IJP became a quarterly publication published only in digital media

 

Until 2016 the journal was published in physical and digital formats. However, since 20 17, it became a solely digital publication, available in free access to the entire national and international academic and scientific community.
