Abstract

We present partial results of the research project entitled "Narratives of boys and girls about Hyperactivity Disorder" in relation with the subjective experiences, as well as knowledge, beliefs and practices about the pharmacological treatment for ADHD in a group of parents and educators in Bogotá, Colombia. The information was collected through in-depth interviews and organized and analysed from six categories: attitude, knowledge, effectiveness, side effects, function and responsibility. The results show that ideas, believes and practices about pharmacological treatment was organized according to the participant’s role and context situation. These results reflect the processes of medicalization in the educational context.
