Abstract

The presence of psychosocial risk factors at work can lead to negative physical and mental manifestations in workers. So any pathology arising from chronic exposure to these risks, as is the burnout syndrome and its consequences can be sequel thereof. the objective of this research was to analyze the psychosocial risk factors that negatively affect family physicians’ health who work for a public health institution, Guadalajara, Mexico. the study was descriptive, analytical and correlational, in wich 203 physicians were included. Two assessment questionnaires were used in this study: the Guide to identify Psychosocial Factors and the scale of “Maslach Burnout inventory (MBi)” and a questionnaire with socio-demographic, health and labor items. 43.3% of physicians reported to suffer from a disease. We obtained 33.6% prevalence of psychosocial factors and 26.7% for the burnout syndrome; and various associations between some psychosocial factors and dimensions of the syndrome with the disease. Moreover, some of the psychosocial factors were associated with the development of the syndrome and gastrointestinal, neurological and psychological symptoms. Any workplace should be dignified for the worker to perform his/her duties. rearrange the means and ways in which an institution works is an essential task in this walk.
