Abstract

This article describes the result of a study about early dysfuntional cognitive schemas in pathological gamblers, in a sample of 49 pathological gamblers and 49 persons without gambling. The data was obtained using the Young Schema Questionnaire Long Test Form-Second Edition, of Young and Browm in 1990 validated in a Colombian population. The results indicated that, gamblers in relation to early dysfunctional cognitive schemas differ significantly from the non-clinical sample, only in schemes of insufficient self-control, mistrust / abuse and law / grandiosity. The characteristic patterns of pathological gamblers and non-clinical sample are described and compared with the results of previous studies related.
