Abstract

This paper takes results of the investigation on the current status of the teaching practices in teacher training for deaf people in University Programs of Childhood Education and Special Education, qualitative study with an analysis of hermeneutical type, made from the Special Education Childhood Education Programs at the Corporación Universitaria Iberoamericana. It analyzes the theoretical and research review about the education of deaf people as part of the result of this research. The educational attention to Deaf people must start from the understanding of the Deaf person and its communicative essence that gives rise to conceptions of bilingual and bicultural education. Research on the context leads to the conclusion that the education of the Deaf involves new educational practices and training to design relevant contexts that respond to the potential and needs of people.
