Abstract

This researching had as an objective to define the student and family factors, associated to the reading comprehension of the 6th and 9th basic secondary education students. For this study 76 6th grade students, 67 from 9th and 104 parents have participated in. The reading comprehension was evaluated applying the language subtest from 2003 SABER TEST, but also, the factors associated to it by applying the forms designed for this analysis. The results of those factors were analyzed through the Rash Model, and the relationship between the factors and the development of the language test were evaluated with the Structural Equational Model. The study showed that the factors evaluated explained just the 17.7% variance on the students’ development. It suggests the necessity to enlarge the evaluation in next researching, including teachers and institutional factors. It will allow us to do a stronger analysis about the phenomena.
