Emotional skills in students of a university institution and proposal of workshops for their development

Abstract
This research aimed at investigating the emotional competences of 2nd, 3rd and 9th semester students registered in the childhood and special education program of the Education Faculty. the competences were evaluated through a questionnaire that includes all the components related to emotional coefficient (EC) and its inherent competences (Cooper & sawaf, 1997). the research was based on a descriptive study in which 80 students from the previously mentioned semesters were selected as participants of the project. In the result discussion graphs are shown indicating the performance distribution in percentages. It is possible to conclude that the students have little knowledge about their emotions, their reactions towards anger are inappropriate and as a favorable aspect they are able to recognize the
emotional stages of other, important ability in the training of trainers. From these results is possible to present a proposal to implement oriented workshops towards the development of emotional skills.
