Abstract

Occupational disease is "any pathological condition resulting from the continued action of a cause that has its origin or motive at work or in the work environment". It is reported that in Mexico the occupational diseases have increased. Thus, the objective of this study is to analyze the manifestations in the health of female workers in four different work activities and its association with socio-demographic and labor variables, in the Guadalajara City, Mexico. The study design is cross-sectional and analytical. The participant population was made up of 486 women; it includes traffic officers, physicians, congress workers and public transport workers. A single questionnaire about socio-demographic, health and labor was applied. In general, the obtained data reported the presence of disease; however, only the variables of age and have a second job were associated with musculoskeletal and psychological diseases. It would be appropriate to perform further studies and to continue investigating more closely the risk factors to which workers are exposed every day and determine both the damage to health as the generation of intervention proposals, especially those related to prevention.
