The purpose of this paper is to report the prevalence and factors related to the use of psychoactive substances SPA in self-identified gay men living in Bogota Colombia. A transverse correlational study was designed by no probability sampling Snowball type. The participants were 175 adolescents and young adults, respondents if they currently use some type of liquor and one or more SPA. Response options were dichotomous type, or Off proof of suicidal ideation (Alpha = .87) was applied and one of internalized homophobia (Alpha = .73). Sixty-three participants (36%) reported use of one or more currently SPA. Age range was between 14 and 27 years (M = 19.08, DS = 2.07). SPA consumption was evident at a younger age (U = 2751, p = 0.014). Significant association between consumption of SPA and consumption of any type of liquor was found in the last month OR = 3.06, p = 0.007, 95% CI [1.35, 6.93], also between consumption and internalized homophobia SPA OR = 1.06; p = 0.023, CI 95% [1,009; 1,127]. In contrast, no statistically significant relationship between suicidal ideation and SPA consumption OR = .96; p=0.25; CI 95% [0.89; 1.03]. In conclusion, the younger, the greater the risk of SPA, gay men who currently consume alcohol, have three times the risk of consumption of one or more SPA. Internalized homophobia tends to be associated with the consumption of SPA. More studies are needed with other sexually diverse contexts and Latin American populations.
