Universidades tradicionales y calidad institucional. actitudes y creencias de sus estudiantes

Research reported here had two goals: i) to identify the main attributes that students from four traditional Universities located in the Valparaiso region (Chile) tie to “Universities quality”, ii) to establish their beliefs and attitudes to quality as a general concept and to their own specific institutions, measuring the relationships they establish among quality attributes (beliefs) as well as among those attributes and themselves (attitudes) and, i) to compare both measurements.
The research process was bring forth applying a mix methodological design (quali-quantitative) operationalized by Galileo System, a mathematical software that includes Multi-Dimensional Scaling (MDS).
Four quality attributes were identified in relation with findings from previous studies: 1) good Faculty, 2) appropriate equipment & infrastructure, 3) institutional prestige and, 4) high valuation in the market labor.
Measuring processes carried out allow to exhibit i) the main attitudes and beliefs of study group about quality Universities in general and their own institutions in particular and, ii) the hierarchical order of studied Universities according to the study group attitudes and beliefs’.
