Effects of personality on recovery from violent acts in eyewitnesses
Efecto De La Personalidad Sobre El Recobro De Actos Violentos En Testigos
Main Article Content
Current research in the field of testimony psychology has studied the effect of multiple psychological factors on the amount of detail and the reproduction of false conversations and memories in the retrieval of autobiographical memories. The aim in this investigation is to identify the effect of personality about eyewitnesses of acts with physical and verbal violence. Participated forty students of psychology divided in four groups in terms of the high score styles of histrionic (group 1), schizoid (group 2), obsessive-compulsive (group 3), personality and a control group with medium scores in those styles. Through an experimental situation, each participant was presented with a video with content of verbal or physical violence; Subsequently, a free recovery task was carried out and the amount of details and reproduction of conversations and false memories was evaluated. The results showed that the participants of 1 group showed poor recoveries, with poor precision in the reproduction of conversations and absence of false memories, meanwhile, participants of 2 and 3 groups retrieve information with greater amount of detail and greater precision in the reproduction of conversations, although group 3 has a lot of false memories. These findings are disgusting in terms of relationship between the recovery of information in the process of autobiographical memory in juridic, and that their others associated constructs like personality and emotions that they can be influential in the testimony.
Key words: testimony psychology, recovery, personality, autobiographical memory, testimony, violent content.
