Sense of coherence and quality of life in workers participating in a wellness program
Sentido de coherencia y calidad de vida en trabajadores que participan en un programa de bienestar
Main Article Content
The aim of this work was to evaluate the sense of coherence (SC) and the quality of life (QL), through the implementation of a well-being program in a random sample of 392 workers from the manufacturing sector in Guadalajara metropolitan area. The program was developed over a period of 12 to 18 months. The significant statistical difference between the initial and the final application was studied, which corresponded to the sense of consistency and quality of life variables. The results indicate an increase in total SC scores after the participation in the program, mainly in two of its dimensions (understandability and meaning). Regarding quality of life, a significant improvement in the person’s perception of his/her emotional role, social function, vitality and general health was found. Based on the study it is possible to conclude that the workers’ ability to perceive internal and external stimuli improves with their participation in a well-being program, which favors the generation of strategies to organize and process the information in a structured, clear way, which would allow to favor interpretations of the events and situations that don’t put life quality and well-being at risk.
