Abstract

In the globalized world and the knowledge economy, organizations and workers face the notions of labor rights and the quality of work that have taken the agenda of international organizations. The search for the inclusion of sustainability criteria in economic development, has placed importance on the practices of organizations and phenomena such as job discrimination and social impact of business models. This article proposes a review of the selection methods used in Chile in terms of what are the requirements for use on the labor market, as well as the theoretical and methodological foundation and their support. Through two studies, the prevalence of the most popular techniques in personnel selection are analyzed, presenting an analysis focused on the avoidance of discrimination. The findings show that many of the techniques and methodologies used in the selection process do not have a scientific basis to support your use, thus the emergence of discriminatory practices is encouraged. Possible reasons and consequences of using inadequate techniques in the context of the Chilean labor market are discussed.
