Abstract

El Burnout Syndrome is considered a modern disease resulting from chronic exposure to various occupational risk factors. In this article we demonstrate the prevalence and the variables that play as a risk factor for the development of the syndrome in various economic activities, located in the country of Mexico. The results of 2,405 workers are reported who belonged to various economic activities such as family doctors (at three public health institutions), university workers, state congress, traffic officers and electric train workers. Congress workers obtained the highest prevalences for the syndrome as well as by dimensions, being the lack of realization the most affected, still the data suggest that transit workers hold various risk variables associated to the development of the syndrome, including being more than 42 years, being married, having more than 10 years’ working experience in their current position and a seniority longer than 14 years in the institution.
